THIS TRAINING IS ONLY FOR MATURE, HIGHLY MOTIVATED CADETS SEEKING KNOWLEDGE IN ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY FUNDAMENTALS

For cadets seeking general knowledge about serving aboard submarines, the OS Basic Cadet Submarine School is a better choice

 

  1. General. ACSS (Advanced Cadet Submarine School) will be conducted in parallel with the basic version, ACSS. Cadets will undergo training by active duty Submarine Qualified instructors at Submarine Base facilities including active participation in labs, simulators and aboard in-port submarines. Topics will include fundamental principles of engineering and technology for communication systems, fire control (tactical and/or strategic), sonar, hydraulics, air systems and ballast/compensation/trim & drain. Cadets will also receive small arms training, swimming instruction/testing and participate in daily PT.

  2. Prerequisites. Advanced to SN/E-3 and 15 years of age (wavierable only through conversation of Unit CO with COTC). In no case will a waiver be granted to a cadet who is 14 years old and has only attended Recruit Training

  3. Required Coursework. Cadets must complete the five assignments of  submarine coursework listed below. Cadets who have not passed all assignments with a score of 70% or better by the close of the registration period (see event details popup in Magellan) may have their orders cancelled and forfeit their training deposit.

    1. Complete the standard NSCC Answer Sheet for Assignments 1-5.

    2. Scan and email the completed answer sheets to acss@lexdiv.org

  1. Graduation Requirements

    1. Complete coursework assignments 1-5 with a score of 70% or better

    2. Complete the ACSS Submarine Qualification Card.

    3. The Mid-term and Final exams will include additional questions beyond the BCSS version and the cadet must achieve scores of 85% or better.

  2. Staff Cadets. Must have graduated from BCSS (OS Seamanship, Submarine School, Basic) or previously Submarine Seminar and will be staff cadets to the BCSS cadets.  Staff cadets must also complete all coursework and ACSS signatures on the qualifications card.
